Canisius University and Genesee Community College (GCC) Sign Dual Admissions Agreement

BUFFALO, NY – Canisius University and Genesee Community College (GCC) signed a Dual Admissions Agreement which allows qualified students to complete their associate degrees at GCC and continue their coursework at Canisius, where they can earn bachelor’s degrees in an additional two years. 

“We are excited to announce this articulation agreement with GCC,” said Sara Morris, PhD, associate vice president for academic affairs.  “Canisius and GCC will provide a seamless transfer between institutions to create educational and career pathways for students.”

“Students seeking a bachelor’s or higher degree can cost effectively start their academic journey at Genesee, and then seamlessly transfer their SUNY credits to Canisius University,” Dr. Kathleen (Kate) M. Schiefen, GCC provost and executive vice president for Academic Affairs said. “There are so many different, dynamic opportunities for students to consider. This is really is a win – win – win for everyone involved.” 

Students must complete specific academic majors and receive their associate degrees to be eligible to continue their studies at Canisius in parallel baccalaureate degree programs. Full-time students currently enrolled at GCC, and those admitted to begin their studies at GCC from August  2018 to May 2023, are eligible to be considered under this articulation agreement. 

The agreement allows students to earn 19 different associate degrees and transfer to Canisius to major in degree programs from all three of the college’s schools – College of Arts and Sciences, Richard J. Wehle School of Business, and the School of Education and Human Services.

Programs include animal behavior, ecology and conservation (ABEC); criminal justice; English; creative writing; biology; biochemistry; chemistry; digital media arts; psychology; sociology; accounting; economics; finance; entrepreneurship; international business; management; marketing and human services.
