ArtsCanisius Programs For November, December
Various events scheduled
BUFFALO, NY – ArtsCanisius presents the following performances, which are free and open to the public, unless otherwise specified:
• Thursday, November 5 –“The Making of an Opera, Part I,” a Composer-in-Residence event, at 2:30 p.m. in the Montante Cultural Center. Persis Parshall Vehar, Canisius College Composer-in-Residence, will take the audience through the steps involved in the production of her fifth opera, Eleanor Roosevelt.
• Monday, November 9 – Meet-the-Faculty Recital featuring Lon Gormley, trombone, and Krista Seddon, piano at 12:00 p.m. in the Montante Cultural Center.
• Tuesday, November 10 – Informally-Formal Chamber Recital at 7:30 p.m. in the Montante Cultural Center. The performance will feature Amy Glidden, associate concertmaster, Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra, violin; Amelie Fradette; cello and Alison D’Amato, piano. The evening’s program will include the music of Heinrich von Biber and Maurice Ravel as well as Zoltan Kodaly’s Duo for Violin and Cello. Tickets are $15 general admission and $7 students.
• Saturday, November 21 – The Canisius College Concert Band performs under the direction of Paul Biddle and the Canisius Jazz Ensemble performs under the direction of Dave Schiavone at 7:30 p.m. in the Montante Cultural Center.
• Sunday, November 22 – The Canisius College Concert Band performs under the direction of Paul Biddle at 1:30 p.m. in the Mary Seaton Room at Kleinhans Music Hall prior to the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra’s concert at 2:30 p.m. Tickets can be purchased by calling the BPO’s box office at (716) 885-5000.
• Saturday, December 5 – The Canisius College Chorale performs under the direction of Frank Scinta at 7:30 p.m. in the Montante Cultural Center.
The ArtsCanisius series at Canisius College presents concerts by professional musicians, including members of the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra and Canisius faculty, art shows and lectures by professional artists, as well as student recitals.
