The Rev. J. Clayton Murray, S.J. Archives at Canisius College, located on the second floor of the Andrew L. Bouwhuis Library, serves as the institutional memory of the college and plays an integral role in management of the institution's information resources in all media and formats. To fulfill the responsibilities of that role, the archives indentifies, acquires and maintains records of enduring value that chronicle the development of the College and ensure the Archives' continuing existence. The Archives documents the process of institutional evolution by retaining both the evidence which shapes the decisions and the decisions themselves. (paraphrased from the Society of American Archivists'
Guidelines for College and University Archives.)The collections consist of paper, photographic documents and other formats including artifacts. We also rotate in-house as well as online exhibits. Some of our photographs can be seen online at the Archives' Digital Collections page. To visit

To ensure that the Canisius College Archives fulfils its mission, which is that of the College itself,
to educate, it is necessary to have policies and procedures that protect collections and to ensure their availability for future use.
A list of established
policies and procedures forms that, in some cases, must be filed with the Archives before use of materials is granted can be viewed by clicking the gold box to your left.
