Campus Ministry takes the time to support and promote Eucharistic Worship at Canisius College to support the spiritual needs of students and to promote the worship traditions of the Catholic Church.
To take the time to spend an hour or just a few minutes in front of the Blessed Sacrament is a very rewarding and enriching experience. The quiet and serenity of the chapel helps students to focus on the presence of Jesus in their midst.
In a world where our lives are very busy and noisy, coming to adore the Holy Eucharist allows people to take time out of their day to present the needs and the needs of others before Christ in his mystical real presence before us.
Please take the time to view the reflections page where students describe why they go to Eucharistic Adoration and how they believe their life has been impacted as a result.
"The Eucharist is the source and summit of the Christian life. The other sacraments, and indeed all ecclesiastical ministries and works of the apostolate, are bound up with the Eucharist and are orientated toward it. For in the blessed Eucharist is contained the whole spiritual good of the Church, namely Christ himself, our Pasch.
The Eucharist is the efficacious sign and sublime cause of that communion in the divine life and that unity of the people of God by which the church is kept in being. It is the culmination both of God’s action sanctifying the world in Christ and of the worship humanity offers to Christ and through him to the Father in the Holy Spirit.
Finally, by the Eucharistic celebration we already unite ourselves with the heavenlyliturgy and anticipate eternal life, when God will be all in all."
-Catechism of the Catholic Church, Articles 1324-1326
"Christ is called real [in regards to the Holy Eucharist] not as a way of excluding all other types of presence as if they are not real but because it is a presence in the fullest sense: a substantial presence whereby Christ, the God-man, is wholly and eternally present." –Pope Paul VI.
"The Church and the world have great need of Eucharistic adoration. Jesus waits for us in this sacrament of love. Let us be generous with our time in going to meet Him in adoration and contemplation full of faith. And let us be ready to make reparation for the great faults and crimes of the world. May our adoration never cease."-Pope John Paul II.
"Christ held Himself in His hands when He gave His Body to His disciples saying: 'This is My Body.' No one partakes of this Flesh before he has adored it."—St. Augustine
"When you have received Him, stir up your heart to do Him homage; speak to Him about your spiritual life, gazing upon Him in your soul where He is present for your happiness; welcome Him as warmly as possible, and behave outwardly in such a way that your actions may give proof to all of His Presence." --. Francis de Sales
"I throw myself at the foot of the Tabernacle like a dog at the foot of his Master." --. John Vianney
"In one day the Eucharist will make you produce more for the glory of God than a whole lifetime without it." --. Peter Julian Eymard
