2008 Outstanding International Student Award

The Office of International Student Programs is Proud to select Joel Francia for the Outstanding International Student Award. Now in his sophomore year, Joel is working on a double major in International Business and International Relations. He has been a great asset for the ISP office and his peers, helping to carry out our mission and being an outstanding leader. Joel served as co-chair of the 2008 International Fest, responsible for the food and programming committees, contributing to a very successful event through his dedication, ability to motivate other members and his outstanding organizational skills.   
Joel has also been a major contributor to the Global Horizons organization for International and American students, assisting in organizing club activities which promote the diversity of the many cultures on the Canisius campus. Joel is a wonderful person with a contagious smile and zest for life. His enthusiasm and continual involvement make him an outstanding International Student.       

ISP Activities

The International Student Programs Office through Global Horizons organizes activities and trips for international students to introduce them to the social and cultural community outside the college.  Some examples include trips to Niagara Falls, Toronto, Boston and New York, and dinners to celebrate American holidays.
