Political science provides an excellent background for the study of law and political journalism. It is suited to the aims of the student who plan to enter politics or government service. This major also provides an ideal background for teaching social studies and a dual major with education is possible. Our graduates also pursue careers in the fields of city planning, foreign service and business.

Political science may be the basis for graduate study, including law school. More than 85 percent of Canisius seniors who apply to law school are accepted by one or more of their choices. Recent graduates have been accepted into the best law schools in the country, including Harvard, Columbia, Notre Dame, Georgetown and Duke.
