Event Facilities

Below is a list of spaces that is managed by the Office of Event Services.  Please click on the building name below for an expanded view and description of available spaces.  For room dimensions and availability, please contact the Office of Event Services.


 

Richard E. Winter '42 Student Center

 

The Richard E. Winter '42 Student Center provides a variety of venues for your event including the Economou Dining Hall, Grupp Fireside Lounge and Regis Room.

The venues within the Student Center range from large multipurpose rooms for receptions, workshops, meetings, luncheons or lectures to smaller conference rooms for club, department or faculty meetings.

 

Economou Dining Hall

 

The Economou Dining Hall located on the 1st floor of the Student Center is the main dining hall on-campus. Small parties and functions can be held in the West Wing during the academic year and the entire dining hall is available for rental only during the summer months of June and July.

 

 

Grupp Fireside Lounge

 

As its name suggests, the Grupp Fireside Lounge is a large room is known for its clean burning fireplace, which provides the perfect ambiance for special events. With two windowed walls that look out onto the Main Quad, Grupp is a very popular venue for larger, higher profile events. With lecture style seating allows for a capacity of 200, or a dinner seating capacity of 160, the Grupp is large enough for most events. Several audio inputs exisit for the house sound system to allow for microphones to be placed in a variety of locations throughout the room.

Regis Room

 

Next to the Grupp Fireside Lounge on the 2nd floor of the Student Center is the Regis Room. The Regis Room can be divided with a moving wall into two separate rooms, Regis North and Regis South, each holding 100 seats for a lecture. The Regis Room can also be left open to hold a 200 seat lecture. The installed 20' screen provides excellent viewing area for any seat in the room. Regis is also equipped with an LCD projector, screen, internet connection, and laptop connectivity.

Regis North

Regis North has a seating capacity of 100 for a lecture, or 72 people for dinner.  Several inputs to the in-house sound system allow for microphones to be placed in a variety of locations throughout the room.  One feature of this half of the room is that it contains the 26' screen and has a built in projector for any computer presentations, VHS or DVD presentations.  

Regis South

Regis South has a seating capacity of 100 people for a lecture or 72 people for a dinner.  Several inputs to the in-house sound system allow for microphones to be placed in a variety of locations throughout the room. Using the 14' in-house screen for projection, this room is perfect for small to medium size lectures and presentations.

Executive Conference Room

 

Located on the second floor of the Winter Student Center, the Executive Conference Room, is an excellent venue for professional meetings. The room can hold 16 guests and is in close proximity to Regis and Grupp, making it an ideal room for breakout sessions for workshops and conferences. The ECR is equipped with a LCD projector, screen, internet connection, laptop connectivity, DVD/VCR combo unit.

 

Student Center Conference Room

 

The Student Center Conference Room located on the second floor of the Winter Student Center is a popular venue for meetings.  The Conference Room can accommodate 16-18 at the table and more seating is available around the perimeter of the space.  The room is in close proximity Grupp and Regis, making it an ideal location for breakout sessions for workshops and conferences and is Room equipped with a LCD projector, ccreen, laptop connectivity, DVD/VCR, wipe board, and internet connection.

Montante Cultural Center

The Montante Cultural Center and its ancillary spaces are suitable for a variety of cultural and academic events - lectures and concerts - as well as an additional space for meetings and receptions.

The Center is the home for the ArtsCanisius series of performances, as well as all the colleges musical groups, including the Canisius University Chorale, Jazz Ensemble, Concert Band and Chamber Orchestra. In addition, the Montante Cultural Center has played host to many performances by the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra, as well as nationally known speakers, dancers, vocalists and political and civic leaders.

Science Hall
Chester HON '01 and Diane Stranczek Commons

The college's newest building is Science Hall. The first phase of the Science Hall renovation was completed in August 2012. In addition to a variety of high-tech classrooms and labs, the Chester HON '01 and Diane Stranczek Commons is a multi-purpose gathering spaces dedicated for student use only on weekdays prior 6pm.  After 6pm on weekdays and all-day on weekends, this multi-purpose room is available to students and campus departments to reserve for programs, lectures, and receptions during the academic year.  External clients are able to reserve this facility upon request and availability. The Commons can accomodate up to a 150 person lecture.
