Business

The undergraduate business major at Canisius is an ideal option for students who are interested in pursuing a business career right after graduation or a master of business administration.

The business BS is grounded in the Wehle School of Business core curriculum and complemented by two upper-level electives in different specialities. Over the course of your study, you’ll understand functional business areas and how they work together within organizations. This broad perspective will form a strong foundation for your future success as a business leader.

Complete a Business Major in Less Time

The business BS includes the core curriculum that all undergraduates in the business school complete as well as just two electives. (Note: the business school core curriculum does not replace the universitywide/All-College Honors core.) Only 53 credits are required to complete the business BS compared to the 70+ to complete other business major courses of study. That means less time to complete your major than other programs that require a higher number of specialized courses and electives.

This abbreviated timeframe to major-course completion makes the general business major particularly well suited to:

  • Students who are double-majoring.*
  • Transfer students.
  • Students with demanding nonacademic responsibilities.

* Students majoring in accounting, accounting systems and analytics, economics, finance, management or marketing cannot double-major in the general business major.

Other Business Majors

The Wehle School offers more majors in specialized areas. All programs are grounded in the business core curriculum but include additional elective courses, diving more deeply into areas like accounting, finance, management, marketing and more to cultivate expertise.
