Professor
Dr. Kristin Finn is Professor of Adolescence Education at Canisius University. She received her Ph.D. in Educational Psychology at the State University of New York at Buffalo. Prior to joining the faculty at Canisius, Dr. Finn held a postdoctoral fellowship at the Research Institute on Addictions, a nationally recognized facility in the study of substance abuse and addiction. Dr. Finn was also program administrator at Educational Testing Service where she worked on the National Assessment of Educational Progress (NAEP). Throughout her career, Dr. Finn’s research has focused on issues involving student identification with school. In particular, she has examined the relationship between school engagement and health-related issues including school-related substance use and childhood obesity. Her research and training has been supported by the National Institutes of Health (NIH), the National Center for Education Statistics (NCES), and National Science Foundation (NSF). Dr. Finn regularly teaches courses in research methodology, human development in adolescence and middle childhood, and educational psychology.
