Canisius University Experiential Learning Funds provide financial support to students completing an internship or other experiential learning related to their future career goals while attending Canisius University.
Griffin Experiential Learning Fund
The Griffin Experiential Learning Fund is open to all Canisius University students. This fund is available to provide financial resources to students to assist them while completing experiential learning on or off campus that enhances their academic, or professional development. Funds can be used to help offset costs associated with unpaid/underpaid internships, or other experiential learning including professional conferences as well as travel, housing, food, and transportation. Funds may be requested up to $5,000.
Nash, Norris, Veasey, Adams Experiential Learning Fund for ALANA Students
Experiential learning is central to the Canisius University strategic plan. However, access to these experiences is not always equitable. The Nash, Norris, Veasey, Adams Experiential Learning Fund was established to support ALANA students who need additional financial resources to secure and or participate in internships, undergraduate research, professional conferences, study abroad or other experiential learning opportunities.
• Students selected to receive funds would be expected to complete a Mentor meeting with an alum or current Canisius employee before their experience and have a post experience check-in or submitted vreflection to conclude the experience.
• Students can request up to two grants during their course of study. Funding can be used to support travel, registration fees, or living expenses during an experiential learning opportunity. Grants may be requested up to $5,000.
Animal Behavior, Ecology & Conservation Experiential Learning Fund
The ABEC Paid Internship Program is available to ABEC and Anthrozoology majors who plan to enroll in a credit-based internship (ABEC 491 or 492). Stipends are available for a limited number of students completing unpaid internships (up to $2400 for a 120-hour internship). Additionally, funding is available for internship-related expenses, included but not limited to uniforms, specialized equipment, travel, and housing.
