Buffalo, NY - Canisius University's annual Giving Day campaign concluded with extraordinary success, raising more than $650,000 in just 24 hours to support dozens of campus initiatives and student programs.

The April 9 event saw unprecedented participation from the Canisius community, with 1,667 donors coming together to demonstrate their commitment to the university's future. This remarkable showing surpassed the campaign's goal of 1,400 gifts, and unlocked a generous $50,000 contribution from Board of Trustee member Jerry Canada '86 in support of the Canisius Fund.

"It is truly incredible to see members of the Canisius community from far and wide coming together and investing in the areas and initiatives that make a Canisius education special," said Jessica Mitrovits, director of the Canisius Fund.  "Most of all, Giving Day showcases the power of thousands of Griffins coming together in support of our students."

Giving Day also featured a successful Faculty and Staff Participation Challenge, with more than 130 current and former faculty and staff members making donations.  Their participation unlocked an additional $5,000 gift from J. Patrick Greenwald, director emeritus of donor engagement, which will benefit the Kenneth Koessler Faculty Development Fund.

The 24-hour campaign allows donors to direct their gifts toward specific academic programs, athletics, student internships, and other areas of personal interest. Many contributors also designated funds to the Canisius Fund, which addresses the university's areas of greatest need.

This year's Giving Day results reflect the deep commitment of the entire Canisius community—including alumni, parents, students, faculty, staff, and friends—to supporting the next generation of Golden Griffins and ensuring the continued excellence of a Canisius education.
