The Canisius University Board of Trustees Appointed Nine New Members to fill Outgoing Positions

BUFFALO, NY - The Canisius University Board of Trustees appointed nine new members to fill outgoing positions.  The new members began on July 1, 2021 and will each serve three-year terms.  The Canisius University Board of Trustees formulates and recommends policy to Canisius President John J. Hurley. The new Board of Trustees members are:

 

  • Jerry G. Canada Jr. ’86, president, Harris Healthcare Group, Niagara Falls, NY;

 

  • Nora Eberl Plizga ’92, co-owner and chief financial officer, Eberl Iron Works, Buffalo, NY;

 

  • Rev. Gerald Thomas Krettek, SJ, visiting associate professor, Loyola University Chicago, Chicago, IL;

 

  • Cindy L. Odom ’90, chief community impact officer, Community Foundation for Greater Buffalo, Buffalo, NY; 

 

  • Margaret W. Paroski ’76, MD, president and chief executive officer, Catholic Medical Partners, Buffalo, NY;

 

  • Vincent G. Roux ’90, global head of corporate development, Broadridge Financial Solutions Inc., Lake Success, NY;

 

  • Cynthia L. Skrzycki ’76 –  (emerita) senior lecturer, English Department, University of Pittsburgh,  Pittsburgh, PA;

 

  • Anthony B.  Spada Jr. ’80, MBA ‘87, president and chief executive officer, AAA of Western & Central NY,  Williamsville, NY; and

 

  • Joyson C. Thomas ’03, chief financial officer, WhiteHorse Finance Inc., New Hyde Park, NY.

 

Officers for the 2021-22 Canisius University Board of Trustees are Chair Martin J. Berardi ‘79, chief executive officer, Schutte-Buffalo Hammermill, Buffalo, NY; Vice Chair David J. Nasca ‘79, president and chief executive officer, Evans Bank, N.A, Hamburg, NY; Secretary Erica C. Sammarco ’00, associate vice president and assistant to the president of Canisius University; and Treasurer Timothy P. Balkin ‘81, vice president for business and finance at Canisius.  The Board also approved the election of Nancy W. Ware ‘78, MBA ‘85 as a Trustee emerita.  Ware is president of EduKids Inc.in West Seneca, NY.
