Four-year commitment. On-time graduation. Lifelong value.
At Canisius, we’re dedicated to providing holistic, person-centered support to ensure our students’ success. That’s why we’re proud to offer the Golden Griffin Guarantee. This partnership is designed to get you to graduation on time, or your remaining required coursework up to a semester of full-time study is 100% on us.
The Golden Griffin Guarantee is a mutual promise that we make to you – and that you make to yourself. Here’s how it works:
- When you sign up for the program, we’ll provide you with a detailed plan to graduate in four years and the support resources to make it happen.
- Working closely with your Student Success Team, you’ll declare a major that suits your goals and interests and work toward completing that major and Canisius core curriculum coursework to earn your bachelor’s degree.
- If you complete all of the steps that your Student Success Team outlines through the program and you still don’t graduate in four years, we will waive tuition and fees for the remainder of your required coursework up to 15 credit hours, equivalent to a full additional semester of study.
It's that simple.
Our part
We offer all our students a robust network of personalized holistic personal, academic, career and financial aid support. When you sign up for the program, we promise to provide:
- A Student Success Team, four pros who are focused on providing you with the resources and support you need to succeed academically, professionally and beyond.
- Comprehensive academic advising using the Griff Audit that explains program requirements and works with you to make appropriate modifications. It’s easier to stay on track when you know where you’re heading.
- Timely support and resources should you encounter difficulties that disrupt your Canisius career.
Your Part
This program is a partnership between you and the university. When you agree to participate, you’ll be expected to:
- Maintain full-time enrollment at Canisius University, averaging 30 credits hours per academic year, to include Winter/Summer intersession courses.
- Be mindful of excessive withdrawals and incomplete grades that may jeopardize your eligibility for the program.
- Register for those courses that are identified by your academic advisor that count toward your degree requirements.
- Review your Griff Audit at least twice per semester; once before Registration and once after.
- Keep scheduled appointments with appropriate members of your Student Success Team (link about team).
- Maintain good academic standing.
- Abide by the Academic Code of Conduct and Community Standards.
Heads Up
There are a few things to keep in mind if you’re considering participating:
- This program only guarantees the coursework to complete a regular course of study at Canisius University resulting in a bachelor’s degree. This includes the core curriculum and one undergraduate major. Additional classes that you choose to take to complete an additional major, minor(s), combined or accelerated degree program, or other courses of study do not fall under the scope of this program.
- Should you choose to change your major, your Student Success Team will work with you to try to get you to graduate in four years, but it might not be possible. In that case, we cannot guarantee your on-time graduation and eligibility for this program.
- The above are guidelines that will assist in determining eligibility. Please note that students’ eligibility for the Golden Griff Guarantee will be evaluated on a case by case basis.
