Practical Solutions

One of the objectives of the Canisius Center for Analytics and Data Ecosystems is to provide subject matter expertise to organizations, which can take the form of: (1) projects and (2) educational workshops.

Projects

EPIIC Regional Partnerships

In Fall 2024 Canisius was awarded the National Science Foundation (NSF) Enabling Partnerships to Increase Innovation Capacity (EPIIC) grant. The goal of this program is to broaden participation in STEM by supporting capacity-building efforts at institutions of higher education. We propose to increase the capacity of Canisius to create lasting regional partnerships, these formalized partnerships will allow student teams, led by faculty members to gain experience working on real-world scenarios.

How it Works

Regional partners provide projects that are completed by a team of skilled students, all under the guidance of a dedicated faculty mentor. Partners contribute a fee, which is more cost-effective than hiring a consultant, and this fee is used to compensate the students and cover any necessary project materials. This collaborative model ensures high-quality project outcomes while supporting student development and organizational goals.

Partner Benefits
  • Innovate Projects - Gain access to motivated students who can complete a project your organization lacks the time or resources for.
  • Access to a Diverse Talent Pipeline - Tap into a pool of highly skilled graduates and assess their capabilities before making hiring decisions, enhancing your recruitment efforts.
  • Strengthening Community Ties - Boost your organization's reputation by providing educational experiences for students, supporting workforce development, and fostering regional connections.

The team at Canisius Center for Analytics and Data Ecosystems helped our organization synthesize a large amount of data from local small businesses, and figure out how best to use it to tell a story. The data was anonymized, yet still managed to convey the incredible impact a program was able to have on our community - and we are optimistic this data will help us to secure renewed funding and support for future years. We are extremely grateful for this collaboration and partnership from Canisius Data Analytics!
