Buffalo, NY - Canisius University will showcase the academic achievements of more than 100 undergraduate and graduate students during the 18th annual Ignatian Scholarship Day (ISD) on Wednesday, April 2, 2025, from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. in Science Hall Commons. This signature campus-wide event highlights the institution's commitment to academic excellence and faculty-student scholarly collaborations through poster sessions, oral presentations, multimedia projects, artistic displays, and performances.
"Ignatian Scholarship Day celebrates the exceptional work completed by our students while embodying the core of our Jesuit mission," says Bridget Niland, PhD, vice president for academic affairs. "Their presentations reflect not only academic excellence but demonstrate how scholarship at Canisius extends beyond the classroom to address real-world challenges and serve the greater good—whether investigating health disparities, environmental concerns, or social justice issues."
Students will present on a diverse array of scholarly projects, from breast cancer mutations among Latina women to the impact of social changes on gorilla troop behaviors, as well as the misdiagnosis of autism spectrum disorder in females, the effects of exercise on concussion recovery, and the impact of microplastics on freshwater ecosystems.
The event underscores Canisius University's focus on engaged scholarship that connects to community needs and the institution's mission.
