Adjunct Professor
John Kryder’s interests in poetry, interdisciplinary studies, and prison education are among those that drive his reading and writing and teaching. He co-founded and for 18 years co-directed The Buffalo/Williamsville Poetry, Music, Dance, and Art Celebration, and for 10 years he was a contributing editor for The Potomac Journal of Poetry and Politics. His poems have been set to music by high school, college, and professional musicians – including “Hymn for Spring” (Albany Records) and “O Stable Star”(Jubal Press), composed by Stephen Shewan.
He taught at Attica/Wyoming prison in the Consortium of the Niagara Frontier, and his involvement in prisoner advocacy groups motivates and informs his academic work. He teaches Freshmen English and Honors seminars, and the Law and Literature and Journey in American Literature courses.
