BUFFALO, NY – The Richard J. Wehle School of Business at Canisius University conferred two of its most prominent awards upon alumni during a reception held Friday, September 27. Christine Wiktor ’01 received the Wehle School’s Dr. Bernard L. Martin Award, which recognizes a distinguished alumnus/ae of the university’s business programs who has excelled professionally and provided significant service to the community. Steve Gattuso ’87, MBA ’88 received the Rev. Thomas E. Fleming, SJ, Award, conferred for distinguished service to the institution.
Wiktor is area vice president of Arthur J. Gallagher Risk Management Service and deeply involved in various community organizations. She currently lends her acumen to the Wehle School’s Business Advisory Council and is treasurer for the Lipsey Architecture Center of Buffalo and the Garrett Club. Wiktor is also past co-chair of the Giving and Awareness Committee for Buffalo’s Olmsted Parks Conservancy, as well as its annual Spring into Summer fundraising luncheon.
Wiktor holds a BS in marketing from Canisius University and an MBA from St. Bonaventure University.
Steve Gattuso is a senior portfolio manager and chief investment officer for Courier Capital. He is also an assistant professor of economics and finance in the Wehle School of Business and executive director of its Golden Griffin Fund (GGF), a student-run investment management fund. In this role, Gattuso educates undergraduate and graduate students in portfolio management, security analysis and macroeconomic research. Under his leadership, the GGF team competes annually in the Charter Financial Analysts (CFA) Institute Research Challenge. The global competition provides university-sponsored teams with hands-on mentoring and intensive training in financial analysis. The GGF team has won the regional CFA championships for 14 consecutive years. In 2019, the Canisius team was one of only five universities, worldwide, to advance to the global finals of the CFA Institute Research and in 2015, the GGF team won the global finals, when it competed against more than 4,000 students from 865 universities from around the world
Gattuso holds a BS in economics and computer science and an MBA in finance, both from Canisius University.
