BUFFALO, NY – Canisius University has earned the prestigious 2024-25 Military Friendly® Gold School designation, placing it among the top 10% of colleges and universities nationwide that are leading the way in providing exceptional support and opportunities for America’s military members, veterans and their families.  The Military Friendly® School list is the longest running and most comprehensive review of college and university investments in serving the military and veteran community.  More than 1800 schools were considered for the rankings with just 537 earning special designations for going above the standard.  The full list of Military Friendly® Schools was published in the October 2024 issue of G.I. Jobs magazine and can be found at www.militaryfriendly.com

“Canisius University is deeply committed to providing a transformative education defined by a person-centered approach that empowers all our students to lead lives of purpose and impact,” says President Steve Stoute.  “This prestigious Military Friendly® Gold designation is a testament to that commitment, and our steadfast dedication to supporting those who have served and ensuring their success in the classroom and beyond.”

The methodology, criteria and weightings used to evaluate Military Friendly® schools were determined by Viqtory, the publisher of G.I. Jobs magazine with input from the Military Friendly® Advisory Council – a group of independent leaders in the higher education and military recruitment community.  Final ratings are based on a comprehensive assessment that combines each school’s survey scores with an evaluation of their ability to meet key thresholds including student retention, graduation, job placement, loan repayment, persistence (degree advancement or transfer), and loan default rates – for all students as well as specifically for student veterans.

"Military Friendly® is committed to transparency and providing consistent data-driven standards in our designation process," said Kayla Lopez, national director of Military Partnerships at Military Friendly®. "Our standards provide a benchmark that promotes positive outcomes and support services that better the educational landscape and provide opportunity for the military community. This creates a competitive atmosphere that encourages Institutions to evolve and invest in their programs consistently. Schools who achieve awards designation show true commitment in their efforts, going over and above that standard."

The Military Friendly® Schools list is created each year based on extensive research using public data sources from more than 8,800 schools nationwide, input from student veterans, and responses to the proprietary, data-driven Military Friendly® Schools survey from participating institutions. VIQTORY is a service-disabled, veteran-owned small business (SDVOSB) that connects the military community to civilian employment, educational and entrepreneurial opportunities through its G.I. Jobs® and Military Friendly® brands.
